What’s up everyone?? My name is Brian and I am 22 years old, just beginning on the road to financial independence. I am using this site as a platform to share my journey, give advice, get advice, and provide a community in which we can all learn about money and life together. I am by no means a financial expert. However, getting my first “real job” encouraged me to establish some basic financial literacy because for the first time in my life I had more money than I knew what to do with. I by no means am rich, but going from earning 7.25 an hour in high school to nearly 4x that now, I am certainly grateful to be in the position I’m in.
As a traveling and outdoors enthusiast I love activities ranging from hiking to kayaking and everything in between. I’ve been to a dozen countries but have about 100+ on my list to visit. While engineering is a good way to make some money, it’s not what I’m truly passionate about. Being financially independent appeals to me simply because of the freedom it would allow me to do what I love. In the end, the money itself is not all that important to me, instead it’s merely a vehicle in which to obtain freedom. Even if you love your job, being financially independent allows you to work for your own pure joy which makes what you do more honest, authentic, and enjoyable for everyone.
Although the posts are going to primarily focus on becoming financially independent, there is so much involved with it that topics may range from index fund investing to achieving happiness. I also realize that financial independence and early retirement are niches within the larger financial community and these ideas in particular tend to only appeal to certain types of people. Therefore I would like to broaden the audience as much as possible so more people can be introduced to a new way of viewing the world. If you have suggestions or would like to contribute don’t ever hesitate to comment or get in touch. The more people we have on this train together, the better. So sit back, relax, and let’s make some money.
